Out of the Storm Cat mare Zing who sold for $3,600,000 as the third highest-priced broodmare at the 2005 Keeneland November sale, Half Ours is a full-brother to a $1,700,000 weanling, the most expensive weanling sold at public auction in 2005. Offered as a racing prospect at the 2006 Keeneland November Breeding Stock Sale, Half Ours sold for $6,100,000 , the highest price ever paid for a horse in training sold at Keeneland.
Half Ours was an undefeated two year old who began his racing career brilliantly at Keeneland where he broke his maiden by 10 ¾ lengths over Maiden Special Weight company. Three weeks later, he won the Juvenile Stakes at Churchill Downs (formerly the WHAS Stakes) on Kentucky Derby Day by an effortless 4 ¼ lengths, establishing a new Stakes record.
Half Ours won the Grade 2 Richter Scale Breeders’ Cup Sprint Championship Handicap at Gulfstream Park after blistering internal fractions of :21 3/5 and :43 3/5.
