Unbridled’s Song well represented in Oaks and Derby day stakes

Unbridled’s Song, currently ranked No. 3 on the 2010 General Sire list, will have a big chance to move up in the rankings when several of his offspring go postward over Derby weekend. Besides have Mission Impazible in the Kentucky Derby (G1), he will be represented by four other stakes horses on Friday and Saturday.

The quartet is led by three starters on Oaks Day, Apr. 30, two at Churchill Downs and one at Belmont Park: At Churchill, Unrivaled Belle is in race 6, the $400,000 La Troienne (G2), where she has the tall order of facing reigning Horse of the Year Rachel Alexandra in a six-horse field. Unrivaled Belle comes into the race in good form off a front-running score in the Grade 3 Rampart S. at Gulfstream Park. In race 8 at Churchill, Heavenly Chorus will face a tough group in the always competitive $100,000 Churchill Downs Turf Sprint (G3), run at five furlongs. At Belmont in race 8, the $100,000 Westchester S. (G3), Honest Man makes his first start for new trainer Anthony Dutrow, Jr. Honest Man has a pair of Grade 3 wins on his resume: the Iselin S. and the Mineshaft Handicap.

On Kentucky Derby day at Churchill, Warbling will go for her fourth win in six career starts in the $300,000 Humana Distaff (G1). Warbling comes off a stylish victory in the Inside Information (G2) at Gulfstream Park, where she earned a 107 Beyer Speed Figure, the highest number by a filly or mare in 2010.

Heavenly Chorus and Honest Man would be new stakes winners for 2010, to add to Unbridled’s Song’s total of five for the year. He has 13 stakes-placed horses overall on the year, and a total of 85 stakes winners for his career.
