Time to Dazzle tops Not This Time exacta in Keeneland’s Franklin S. (G2)

Time to Dazzle shot through an opening along the rail in the stretch to win Sunday’s $400,000 Franklin S. (G2) at Keeneland by 3 1/4-lengths, with another Not This Time filly, In Our Time, securing the second spot.

Allowed to settle at the back of the seven-horse field after the break, Time to Dazzle was unhurried as In Our Time battled with Luna Luska through very fast fractions of :20.65 and :43.65. Time to Dazzle was blocked in until she reached the eighth pole, when she squeezed past In Our Time and quickly pulled away in the final sixteenth. In Our Time gamely held on to second over Pondering.

“Obviously the speed on paper looked like it was heavy,” said winning jockey Jose Ortiz. “When I saw Luna Louska was not in front, I knew they were going pretty fast, so I rode [my filly] with patience. Around the turn, I had to tap on the brakes a little bit and followed the one [Pondering]. I knew the one was going to take me to the eighth pole, and I did that. Then I found a hole on the inside and she exploded.”

Time to Dazzle, who got her first stakes win in last year’s Ontario Cotillion (G3), is now 4-2-1 in 14 starts and has earned $682,877 for owner Tracy Farmer. The winner was bred in Kentucky by Dr. Rodney Orr and sold at the Keeneland September sale for $310,000.

Not only is Not This Time currently the leading sire of stakes winners on the 2025 General Sire list with 22, he is also the leading sire of 2-year-olds in nearly every statistical category.
