Not This Time’s Soy Tapatio sets track record

Soy Tapatio earned his third stakes victory of 2022 on Nov. 22 with a track record performance in the $100,000 Zia Park Championship S.

The 4-year-old son of Not This Time won a pair of stakes in Canada this summer and has five overall wins in 2022.

Soy Tapatio, in the outside post in the field of six going nine furlongs, stalked the pace for the first six furlongs before making a bid for the lead in upper stretch. The dark bay dueled for about a furlong with Logical Myth before drawing clear late to secure the win by a length.

The final time of 1:47.18 was a new track record at the distance.

The winner races for Rick, Clayton, & Lana Weist and Gary Kropp. His earnings now stand at $260,545.

Soy Tapatio was bred in Kentucky by Miklin Stables LLC and Five Fillies LLC.

Last year’s #1 Second-Crop sire, Not This Time has a commanding lead on the 2022 Third-Crop Sire list with over $12.1 million in progeny earnings, more than $5 million ahead of his nearest pursuer. His 2023 fee was recently announced at $135,000 S&N.
