Dream On got his first stakes win Saturday at Aqueduct with a hard-fought score in the $125,000 Woodhaven S.
The 3-year-old Not This Time colt had some tough luck during his 2-year-old campaign, when he finished third in the Summer S. (G1) and second in the Soaring Free S., both at Woodbine, and was beaten just two lengths in the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Turf.
The bay colt would find the winner’s circle on Saturday after a very gritty stretch drive. He tracked in third most of the one-mile trip, making his move just outside the quarter pole. Sounds Like a Plan posted some soft early fractions and had a clear lead turning for home, but Dream On was relentless in the stretch, and took over with a sixteenth to run, then held off a host of challengers to win by a neck in 1:38.06 on the “good” turf course.
Dream On is now 3-1-1 in eight starts and has earned $247,740 for D J Stable LLC. The bay colt was bred by Aaron & Marie Jones and sold to his owner for $380,000 at the 2024 OBS Spring 2-year-old sale.
Not This Time, a top-10 General Sire of 2025, has accounted for a half-dozen stakes winners this year, most notably Final Gambit, the winner of the Jeff Ruby S. (G3) who will start in the Kentucky Derby (G1) on May 3rd.
