No Time dominates $500,000 Woodbine Oaks for first stakes win

No Time, an aptly named daughter of Not This Time, timed her stretch move perfectly in the $500,000 Woodbine Oaks July 20 at the Canadian oval, drawing off to a 3 ¾-length win for the 3-year-old’s first stakes victory.

Ridden by John Velazquez for the first time since her maiden-breaking win last September, No Time got a perfect ride from the Hall of Famer. The dark bay filly got a way well from post 8 and made her way up into fourth place after a quarter-mile.

She continued three-wide down the backstretch and into the final bend, when she began to close in on the leaders. Turning for home, she was battling for the lead with Shifty, who ultimately gave way inside the final furlong as No Time drew away smartly to finish the 1 1/8-miles in 1:50.14.

“We know it’s going to be a lot of pace in the race, so I wanted to see how it developed and developed in front of us,” said Velazquez. “She held her ground pretty well going to the first turn. So, kind of held it there. And then I didn’t want to make a premature move, but let her do whatever she was doing, easy at the same time the quarter pole came, and she switched on down the lane, and she gave another gear.”

No Time is now 3-0-1 in eight starts and has earned $324,000 for owner Gary Barber. No Time was bred in Canada by James & Janeane Everatt and Arika Everatt-Meeuse.

Out of the stakes winner Count to Three, No Time is a half-sister to multiple Grade 1 winners Count Again and Ransom the Moon.

Not This Time continues to produce stakes winners at a remarkable rate. He now has 12 in 2025, second only to Into Mischief on the General Sire list.
