Top-10 Second-Crop sire Modernist tallied his third stakes winner of the year on Sept. 30 at Horseshoe Indianapolis when Cash Per Trip gallantly fended off Kansascityjustice in the $100,000 Circle City S.

Modernist is also the sire of Lexington S. (G3) winner Trendsetter, as well as Withers S. and New York Derby winner Talk to Me Jimmy.

Two-year-old Cash Per Trip was making his stakes debut Wednesday following a five-length maiden special weight win six weeks prior. Breaking in the top flight, Cash Per Trip moved from fourth to third down the backstretch. Three-wide on the turn, he moved to battle Kansascityjustice for the lead at the top of the stretch. After a prolonged drive, the winner prevailed by a head in 1:11.68 on a fast track.

Cash Per Trip has won two of three starts for owner Tim Rosin and trainer Coty Rosin. The bay colt was bred in Indiana by Watershed Bloodstock LLC.
