Magnitude eyes bigger prizes after dominating Razorback H. (G3) victory

Not This Time’s Magnitude kicked off his 2026 campaign in style Feb. 28 at Oaklawn Park with a 3 ¾-length win in the $500,000 Razorback H. (G3).

Looking like a winner the entire trip, Magnitude sat patiently in second behind Nu What’s New for the first six furlongs, then when called upon by jockey Jose Ortiz, easily went by the pacesetter and asserted himself in the final furlong to win going away in 1:42.10 for the 1 1/16-miles on a fast track. His 102 Beyer Speed Figure is his fifth of his career.

“[This] horse has always had a tremendous amount of talent, but I think today is his best performance to date,” said trainer Steve Asmussen.

Now a three-time graded stakes winner, Magnitude will travel overseas next to contest the March 28 Dubai World Cup (G1) at Meydan.

Owned by Winchell Thoroughbreds LLC, Magnitude won the Clark (G2) and Risen Star S. (G2) last year and is now 6-2-1 in 12 starts, with earnings of $1,584,365. The bay colt was bred in Kentucky by Ron Stolich and sold to his owner for $450,000 at the 2023 Keeneland September Yearling sale.
