Not This Time’s 2-year-old filly Stress Relief collected her second stakes win of her young career Friday at Keeneland with a come-from-behind win in the $300,000 Myrtlewood S.
A convincing winner of the Adirondack S. (G3) this summer at Saratoga, Stress Relief got a less than ideal trip in Friday’s six-furlong sprint. After bumping with Angel of Kirk coming out of the gate, Stress Relief lost a few lengths, then raced five-wide down the backstretch while some four lengths off the leaders. She was still wide on the turn and into the stretch while cutting the deficit in half turning for home. With a resolute stretch run, Stress Relief struck the front inside the final sixteenth and won by a neck in 1:11.33 on a fast track.
“I don’t think (I was worried that she was farther back than planned in the early stages). In horse racing, anything can happen,” said winning trainer Kinnon LaRose. “You always have Plan A, but you’ve got to have Plan B and Plan C, sometimes. (Jockey) Luis (Saez) rode her great. She broke maybe a step slow and it looked like (trainer) Brad (Cox’s) horse (Angel of Kirk) kind of stumbled and it caused a little altercation, but that’s horse racing. Credit to Luis and credit to the filly. She showed a lot of heart today and I’m super proud of her.”
Now the winner of three of four outings, Stress Relief has earned $393,921 for owner/breeder Joel Politi. Stress Relief is the first foal out of two-time stakes winner Littlestitious.
With the Breeders’ Cup Championships less than a week away, Not This Time leads the 2026 General Sire list with over $29 million in progeny earnings. The Taylor Made stallion has seven horses pre-entered in this year’s event, the most for any North American sire. Among his Breeders’ Cup hopefuls are Magnitude in the Classic, Rhetorical in the Mile and Cy Fair in the Turf Sprint.
