In Our Time became the 14th Grade 1 winner and topped a Not This Time exacta in Saturday’s $1.75 million Kentucky Downs Ladies Turf Sprint S. (G1), scoring by 3 ½-lengths over Time to Dazzle in the 6 ½-furlong contest.
Facing a top-class field that included Ag Bullet, who won the last two runnings of this race, In Our Time put herself on the lead right out of the gate, carving out fractions of :22.79 and 45:39 on the undulating turf course. She kicked away from Ag Bullet at that point and was never really threatened down the long home stretch, winning comfortably in 1:16.01 on the firm turf.
“I just wanted to do what the boss (trainer Saffie Joseph, Jr.) said. He said, ‘Don’t try to change anything up,’ and if she broke sharp and no one wanted the lead to just go for it,” winning rider Micah Husbands noted. “There wasn’t anyone with as much speed as us, so I just let her cruise and tried to take a long hold and not grab at her head. She was just cruising.”
The winner is owned by Resolute Racing and Miller Racing LLC and is now 6-6-3 in 19 starts and has earned $1,993,305. In Our Time was bred in Kentucky by Brian Kahn.
Not This Time is the leading General Sire of 2026 with over $23 million in progeny earnings and now has accounted for four Grade 1 winners this year.
