With an amazing turn of foot in the final furlong, Not This Time’s Breeders’ Cup winner Cy Fair made short work of the field in Saturday’s Coronation Cup (G3) at Saratoga.

The 3-year-old filly was keen at the start of the 5 ½-furlong turf sprint, but then had to ease back a bit going into the turn. Patiently ridden by John Velazaquez around that bend, she moved off the hedge in upper stretch, then flew by pacesetter Sapphire Beach with a furlong to go and cruised home under a hand ride.

“I think all things equal, she is the best 3-year-old filly turf sprinter out there,” said winning trainer George Weaver of his charge. “I know it’s not a big category in the [United] States, but she is a pretty special horse. We’re very proud of her.”

Weaver said Cy Fair’s major end-of-season target may be the Breeders’ Cup Turf Sprint (G1) against older males.

Winner of last year’s Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Turf Sprint (G1), Cy Fair is owned by Medallion Racing, Swinbank Stables LLC, Joey Platts and Mark Stanton. Saturday’s win put her over the $1 million mark in earnings, at $1,016,005. The bay filly was bred in Kentucky by Marc Keller.

Not This Time is leading the 2026 General Sire list with $19.5 million in progeny earnings, nearly $2 million ahead of Into Mischief.
