Unrivaled Time flies home late to win $125,000 Snow Chief S.

The nation’s leading sire Not This Time got his 15th stakes winner of 2026 May 23rd at Santa Anita Park when Unrivaled Time came from far off the pace to win the grassy Snow Chief S.

The 3-year-old was making his first start in three months in Saturday’s 1 1/8-mile event. In no hurry early, Unrivaled Time settled in ninth from his inside starting position, with Trump Era leading the way through a half-mile of :46.89. Unrivaled Time was still ninth at that point, but began to edge closer into the final turn.

Forced to go four-wide around horses on the bend, he passed horses willingly and was within five lengths of the lead at the top of the stretch. With a sustained drive down the lane, he surged past Trump Era in the final sixteenth to win by a head in 1:48.04 on the firm turf.

“That last half a mile was great, but the first part wasn’t. I wasn’t happy with it,” said jockey Armando Ayuso. “I was a little worried about what was going to happen, because I didn’t want to be too far back. I wanted to break better. I think we just lost a little bit of focus.

“The horse was great today. He was doing everything professionally. He was getting there. I asked him to be close and he was there. Then in the last half a mile, he had his momentum and ran very nice at the end.”

Winner of the Cecil B. DeMille S. (G3) at Del Mar in November, Unrivaled Time is 3-0-1 in six starts and has earned $185,100. The bay colt is owned by Innergy Racing Corp. and Alfred Pais, the latter also the colt’s breeder.
