On Time Girl turned in a very impressive performance in Saturday’s $225,000 Fern Creek S. at Churchill Downs, rolling to a 3 ½-length victory in the 6 1/2 furlong race for 2-year-old fillies.
The 2-year-old filly is one of Not This Time’s eight juvenile stakes winners in 2025, which leads all North American sires. He also leads the General Sire list with 26 stakes winners this year.
On Time Girl was prominent from the start on Saturday, prompting the pace of the speedy Solemn Vow, who narrowly led through a half-mile in :46.08. On Time Girl took over shortly thereafter, then bounded clear in the stretch to win going away.
The final time on the fast track was 1:15.83.
“I think the (six) post really helped her,” said trainer Brad Cox. “She was able to have a target to run out and sit just off of the leader. She was able to finish up well today. We may try to gradually stretch her out. I’m not certain she’s a mile-and-an-eighth horse but she’s honest and a good work horse.”
Owned and bred by Dennis Albaugh’s Albaugh Family Stables LLC, On Time Girl is 3-1-0 in four starts, with earnings of $315,525. After winning her first two races – a six-furlong maiden special weight at Ellis Park in August and a six-furlong first-level allowance at Churchill Downs in September – On Time Girl finished second to A Fine Chardonnnay in the $250,000 Myrtlewood at Keeneland over six furlongs on Oct. 24.
The winner is out of Girl Daddy, who won Churchill’s Pocahontas S. (G3) at two.
