Not This Time will have more representation than any other sire in this year’s Breeders’ Cup, with nine horses, including seven juveniles, for the world championships this Friday and Saturday at Del Mar.
Not This Time is the nation’s leading sire by both percentage of graded stakes horses, as well as 2-year-old graded stakes winners, stakes winners and earnings.
The Taylor Made stallion is especially strong in both the Juvenile Turf Sprint (G1) and Juvenile Fillies Turf (G1), which both run Friday, with three entries in each race. Two of his entries in the Turf Sprint, Cy Fair and Schwarznegger, drew posts 10 and 11, respectively. Both are also stakes winners, Cy Fair in the Algonquin S. at Woodbine, and Schwarznegger the Indian Summer S. at Keeneland.
Cy Fair races for Medallion Racing, Swinbank Stables, Joey Platts and Mark Stanton. The bay filly was bred by Marc Keller. Schwarznegger, owned by the partnership of S. Magnier, Mountmellick Farm, Brook Smith, Resolution Road Stables, Lindy Farms & Ice Wine Stable, was bred by Frankfort Park Farm.
Not This Time’s third entry, graded stakes-placed Should’ve, a Lael Stable homebred, drew post 14 on the also-eligible list.
In the Juvenile Fillies Turf, Imaginationthelady and Infinite Sky will be in posts 3 and 4, respectively, with Time to Dream in post 9. The trio of 2-year-old fillies ran 1-2-3 in the Jessamine S. (G2) at Keeneland. Jessamine winner Imaginationthelady is owned by Mark Dobbin and was bred by Ashview Farm and Colts Neck Stables. Jessamine runner-up Infinite Sky will carry the colors of her breeder Godolphin. Time to Dream races for Repole Stable and was bred by Maggie Gieseke.
Not This Time’s final entry on Friday is Blackout Time in the Juvenile (G1). Second in the Breeders’ Futurity (G1) last out, Blackout Time drew post 2 for Friday’s 1 1/16-mile contest. The dark bay colt is owned by Brookdale Racing, Lance Gasaway, & Magdalena Racing and was bred by Newstead Corp.
On Saturday, Not This Time has Rhetorical in the Mile (G1) and Goal Oriented in the Dirt Mile (G1). Rhetorical, in post 11 and owned by Gary Barber, Cheyenne Stable & Wachtel Stable, comes into the race off a win in the Grade 1 Turf Mile at Keeneland. The 4-year-old was bred by Mallory and Karen Mort.
Three-year-old Goal Oriented, owned by SF Racing, Starlight Racing, Madaket Stables, Stonestreet Stables, D. Bashor, Determined Stable, Robert Masterson, Tom Ryan, Waves Edge Capital & Catherine Donovan, will face older horses for the first time. In post 2, Goal Oriented placed in both the Haskell Inv. (G1) and Pennsylvania Derby (G1). He was bred by Runnymede Farm LLC & CWC Investment 2,LLC.
The Breeders’ Cup will be broadcast both Friday and Saturday across NBC, USA Network and Peacock, as well as multiple wagering platforms.
