$1.3 Million Unbridled’s Song Colt Top Opening Night at FTSAR
A yearling colt by Unbridled’s Song out of the Storm Cat mare Queen’s Lady brought $1.3 million on opening night of the 2006 Fasig-Tipton Saratoga sale. It was the highest final bid of the first session of the historic auction.
John Ferguson signed the ticket for Sheikh Mohammed and commented after the purchase:
“He has great confirmation and is very athletic. We expected he’d bring about what he brought. He’s by a very good sire. He’s a natural athlete; I’m looking forward to having him in training next year”.
The colt’s dam is a full sister to the dam of champion Folklore. He is also further evidence of the potency of the Unbridled’s Song-Storm Cat cross. He is the second seven figure yearling by Unbridled’s Song out of daughter of Storm Cat and, should he win a stake, he would become Unbridled’s Song’s fifth blacktype winner out of Storm Cat mare. The Unbridled’s Song-Storm Cat cross has already produced G1 winner Buddha, G3 winner Magnificent Song, and the stakes winners Be Like Mike and Half Ours.
Unbridled’s Song has now been represented by at least one seven figure yearling in each of his first eight crops offered and a total of 15 that have brought $1 million or more

$2.8 Million Colt, $1.25 Million Filly at Keeneland September 2004
Over the past decade, Coolmore and Godolphin have engaged in many bidding wars for the world’s top yearlings. The opening day of the 2004 Keeneland September Sale was no different. The final price was $2.8 million.
