Sons of Unbridled’s Song Showing Great Promise
Stallions are measured by a variety of criteria as their careers progress. First it’s the commercial appeal of their first few crops. Then it’s the success of their progeny under race conditions. Finally, it’s how their sons measure up in their own stallion careers.
Unbridled’s Song had long ago established his position among the elite American stallions, both in the sales ring and on the racetrack. Now his young sire sons are earning Unbridled’s Song the coveted title of ‘Sire of Sires’.
Songandaprayer finished 2005 as the fourth-ranked first crop sire with $1,056,247 in progeny earnings and led his crop with three juvenile stakes winners. In 2006, he remains the leader of his second crop peers with four graded stakes winners, including the top sprinter Songster and the G3 winner Praying for Cash.
Unbridled Time was Unbridled’s Song’s very first stakes winner and he is his second son to sire a stakes winner. The first crop sire stands in Florida and is already the sire of the stakes winner Unbridled Ambiance from only 47 foals.
Unbridled’s Song has another promising young sire son waiting in the wings in G1 Wood Memorial winner Buddha. His first crop of yearlings were offered in 2005 and they averaged $109,844, among the top three in his sire crop.
Several other sons of Unbridled’s Song have attracted strong support. G2 winners Even the Score and Domestic Dispute bred 116 and 114 mares, respectively, in his their first year at stud in 2005. Two other sons, the stakes-winning $1 million yearling Value Plus and G2 winner Eurosilver were among the most popluar new sires in Kentucky in 2006.
