North Broad Wins W. Meredith Bailes Memorial S. at Colonial
North Broad used a ‘relentless rally’ to win the W. Meredith Bailes S. at Colonial Downs by 3/4 of a length over Woodbridge. Ridden by Lenworth Kirlew, North Broad tracked in fourth in the early going and was carried four wide entering the lane before unleashing his winning late run. He covered the six furlongs in 1:10 3/5.
North Broad, a six year-old son of Northern Afleet, earned his first stakes win in the Bailes after placing in a pair of stakes earlier in his career. He is the 7th first crop stakes winner for his sire from only 38 foals, a phenomenal 18% stakes winners to foals ratio.
