Northern Afleet Yearling Yield Big Profits
A pair of Northern Afleet yearlings commanded six figure prices at the 2006 Fasig-Tipton July yearling sale. Both youngsters are from Northern Afleet’s final Florida crop and were bred on $5,000 stud fees.
During the second session of the sale, Mike Akers (Dapple Bloodstock) went to $150,000 to secure hip # 430. The attractive Northern Afleet colt is the first foal out of the unraced French Deputy mare Spicy Souffle. He was consigned by Stoney Lane Farm.
Earlier that day, a smooth moving Northern Afleet colt was purchased by John Kelly for $135,000. The colt is out a stakes-placed Silver Buck mare and was consigned by Taylor Made Sales Agency.
All told, four Northern Afleet yearlings were sold at the July sale for and average price $101,250, more than 20x the stud fee upon which they were bred.
