    HALF OURS
    Unbridled’s Song—Zing by Storm Cat

Half Ours, an undefeated Stakes winner at two and winner of the Grade 2 Richter Scale Breeders’ Cup Sprint Championship Handicap at Gulfstream Park in March of this year, has been retired from racing to stand alongside his sire, Unbridled’s Song, at Taylor Made Stallions, Inc., in Nicholasville, Kentucky, as the property of Aaron and Marie Jones.

“We’re excited to have Half Ours join the stallion roster at Taylor Made.

He’ll be the first son of Unbridled’s Song to stand at the Farm. Half Ours has the potential to follow in the footsteps of his Sire. Like his Sire, he is a great looking horse who established a new record in the sales ring. He was an outstanding undefeated Two-Year-Old with brilliant speed who was bred for the classics,” said Ben Taylor, Vice President of Taylor Made Stallions, Inc. “Mr. and Mrs. Jones are heavily invested in the family and will be supporting Half Ours the same way they have supported their other stallions who stand or have stood at Taylor Made, namely Forestry, Forest Danger and Champion Sire Saint Ballado.”

Half Ours is by Taylor Made Stallion Unbridled’s Song who sold as a Two-Year-Old for a then record price of $1,400,000. Out of the Storm Cat mare Zing who sold for $3,600,000 as the third highest-priced broodmare at the 2005 Keeneland November sale, Half Ours is a full-brother to a $1,700,000 weanling, the most expensive weanling sold at public auction in 2005. Offered as a racing prospect at the 2006 Keeneland November Breeding Stock Sale, Half Ours sold for $6,100,000, the highest price ever paid for a horse in training sold at Keeneland.

Undefeated Two-Year-Old Half Ours began his racing career brilliantly at Keeneland where he broke his maiden by 10 ¾ lengths over Maiden Special Weight company. Three weeks later, he won the Juvenile Stakes at Churchill Downs (formerly the WHAS Stakes) on Kentucky Derby Day by an effortless 4 ¼ lengths, establishing a new Stakes record.

In 2007, Half Ours won the Grade 2 Richter Scale Breeders’ Cup Sprint Championship Handicap at Gulfstream Park after blistering internal fractions of :21 3/5 and :43 3/5. Over the course of his racing career, Half Ours won by an average winning margin of over 4 lengths.

“Half Ours was a really special horse, he just did everything so effortlessly. He has all that you would look for in a successful Stallion…speed, precocity, class, great looks, commercial appeal and pedigree,” said Todd Pletcher, trainer of Half Ours. “We have his full-brother and we have high hopes that he can carry on the family name.”

Half Ours will be available for inspection during the Keeneland September Yearling Sale and his stud fee will be announced at a later date
