During his first two years at stud, Forestry bred 6 mares carrying Fappiano within six generations. Out of those mares he has sired the G3 winner Congressionalhonor and the stakes winner Queens Plaza.
While the Storm Cat-Fappiano cross is showing excellent results in general, Dr. Fager, Fappiano’s damsire, appears to be the key for Forestry. From only 14 mares bred during his first two seasons at stud, Forestry has sired the above two stakes winners, plus G3 winner Forest Grove and the stakes winners Frenchglen, and Forestier. In summary, Forestry has sired 5 stakes winners (38%) from the first 14 Dr. Fager-influenced mares he has bred.
Foresty’s success with Fappiano/Dr. Fager continues in his third and fourth crops. The fourth dam of Forestry’s third crop stakes winner Queen Amira is by Dr. Fager. From his fourth crop, Forestry has already sired the stakes-placed juvenile Sequoia King and the $16 million two year-old The Green Monkey, who are both out of the daughters of the Fappiano stallion Unbridled.
Forestry has sired 6 stakes winners and 8 additional stakes horses from mares that carry Mr. Prospector, which creates inbreeding to Sequence (Forestry’s 4th dam and the 2nd dam of Mr. Prospector). Three of those stakes horses are out of daughters or granddaughters of Forty Niner, including the stakes winner Fall Fashion.
The overall Storm Cat- Alydar cross has produced several good runners and Forestry himself is clicking with Alydar-influenced mares. G1 winner Diplomat Lady and the stakes winner Ever Elusive are out of Saratoga Six mares, while the stakes-placed Forestry Prince is out of daughter of Turkoman. The stakes-winning Euro Code is out of a direct daughter of Alydar and second dam of the stakes winner Forest Danz is also by Alydar.
Forestry has been bred to only 6 mares carrying Cox’s Ridge within six generations. Out of those mares he has sired 4 stakes winners/stakes horses: Somethingaboutbetty (MSW), Smokin Forest (SW), Stoic (G3SP) and Ottawa Chief (SP).
Although Forestry is inbred to Bold Ruler, he has sired 16 stakes horses from Bold Ruler-influenced mares. In fact, G1 winner Diplomat Lady, multiple graded stakes winner Smokey Glacken, the stakes winners Ever Elusive, Forestier and Dancin Olivia, and the G3-placed Hasslefree are out of mares who are themselves inbred to Bold Ruler.
