Albergatti kicked off a very good day for his sire Unbridled's Song with a popular victory in a seven furlong maiden special weight race at Santa Anita. The gray or roan 3-year-old led every step of the way to win by a comfortable 1 1/2-lengths.

Albergatti was sent off the 1-2 favorite in his second career outing. He was the runner-up in his debut, when he earned a 90 Beyer Speed Figure, a month ago, also at Santa Anita. This time around he would not be denied as he secured the top spot soon after the break, and would not relinquish the front at any point. He carved out solid fractions of :44.52 for the half mile and 1:08.14 for six furlongs, finishing the seven panels in 1:20.66, just a second off the track record.

Stonestreet Thoroughbred Holdings LLC bought Albergatti's dam, My Miss Storm Cat, when she was in foal with Albergatti at the 2007 Keeneland November breeding stock sale, for $925,000. Stonestreet is the co-owner with Natrona Racing Stable LLC. The mare won five of seven lifetime starts, including the Desert Stormer H. She is a half-sister to West Virginia Derby (G2) winner Soul Warrior.

Albergatti has now earned $43,200. The colt is nominated to the 2011 Triple Crown, one of four by Unbridled's Song among the 364 early nominees. He is trained by Steve Asmussen.
