Kaigun, one six millionaires by Northern Afleet, added to his stellar resume with a victory in the $200,000 Pan American S. (G2) at Gulfstream Park.

A regular on the graded stakes circuit for turf marathoners, Kaigun snapped an unlucky streak of four second-place finishes with a come-from-behind win by a head in Saturday's 1 1/2-mile contest, outrunning another late closer in Wake Forest (GER) to rack up his third graded stakes win.

“I think letting Joe (Bravo) ride him over and over, keeping a regular rider on him, has helped him,” said Norm Casse, assistant trainer to father and trainer Mark. “Joe said he’s learned a lot about him and a lot of times that can make a big difference. He rode a great race and it was very rewarding to have a horse like him win again.

Kaigun upped his record to 28-6-8-3 with $1,361,115 in earnings for Quintessential Racing Florida LLC, Horse'n Around Racing Stable and Gary Barber.  The 6-year-old has won or placed in 12 graded stakes.

Northern Afleet is the sire of four graded stakes winners on three different continents in 2016 and is  the sire of more than 70 black type winners and nearly 130 black type horses lifetime.
