Forestry Type, a 3-year-old colt by Forestry, made a triumphant stakes debut by winning the $60,000 Prairie Mile S. Saturday night at Prairie Meadows racetrack. It marked his third consecutive victory.

The speedy Forestry Type broke and was forced six-wide into the first turn of the one-mile event before taking command down the backstretch. He quickly opened up on the field through a solid half-mile in 46.96 and remained clear coming off the far turn and into the stretch.

The wide trip into the first turn proved to be Forestry Type's biggest challenge, as the dark bay hit the wire an easy 2 1/4-length winner after being three-to-four lengths clear throughout. The final time over a sloppy local track was 1:38.27.

Trained by Dale Bennett, Forestry Type moved his impressive record to 4-1-0 from six starts with earnings of $76,012 for owner Savoy Stable. Diamond A Racing Corp bred the colt from the stakes-winning Strawberry Road mare Adel.

Forestry Type became the 37th stakes winner for his sire Forestry.
