Astrology, A.P. Indy's graded stakes-winning two-year-old and classic-placed three-year-old, has been retired from racing and will stand at Taylor Made Stallions in 2013 for a fee of $7,500 stands and nurses.

A two-year-old graded stakes winner at Churchill Downs, Astrology represents one of only two juvenile graded-winning sons of A.P. Indy at stud, and is A.P. Indy's only graded stakes winner at 2 to return to be Classic-placed at 3.

After breaking his maiden over To Honor and Serve in a tough Saratoga maiden special for two-year-olds, Astrology won the one-mile Iroquois S. (G3) by open lengths at Churchill before finishing a close runner-up in the Kentucky Jockey Club S. (G2). At 3, he was third in the Preakness S. (G1) to Shackleford and Animal Kingdom despite some traffic trouble, beaten just 1 ¾ lengths in the 1 3/16-mile classic.

“Astrology is one of the best-looking horses I've seen by A.P. Indy, who's one of the best sire of sires in the world, and he's bred identically to Bernardini,” said Ben Taylor, Vice President of Taylor Made Stallions. “Astrology was a top juvenile around one turn, and showed that he could stretch out his speed and quality to be a Classic three-year-old. We're thankful to Mrs. Barbara Banke, George Bolton and the entire Stonestreet team for choosing Taylor Made.”

Bred by Stonestreet Thoroughbred Holdings and campaigned by Stonestreet Stables and George Bolton, Astrology retires with career earnings of $516,977. By A.P. Indy, Astrology is out of the four-time stakes-producing Quiet American mare Quiet Eclipse, who is also the dam of two graded stakes-winning juveniles. The A.P. Indy cross with Quiet American mares is responsible for some of A.P. Indy's top horses, including leading sire Bernardini.

“Quiet Eclipse was a beautiful mare, and all of her foals were gorgeous,” said John Moynihan for Stonestreet. “Astrology really stood out from Day 1 at the farm, and showed endless potential at every stage of his life. Stonestreet will surely get behind this horse with a number of our mares, and we'll look forward to trying to buy the ones that look like him in the sales ring.”

Said trainer Steve Asmussen: “Astrology is an absolutely beautiful individual and very classic looking. He had a ton of ability, and I have no doubt that he was a Grade 1 winner on his best day.”
