Spinning Star uncorked a huge rally in the final quarter mile of Saturday's six-furlong allowance race at Hawthorne Park to register a three-quarter length victory over a sloppy racetrack.

Eighth and last after a quarter-mile, the 3-year-old filly made a mild gain on the turn between horses, then swooped seven-wide before kicking in strongly in the stretch to get up in the final strides. The final time over the off going was 1:12.28.

Spinning Star picked up her maiden win on March 3 over the same surface. Bred in Kentucky by Ken and Sarah Ramsey, she is the first foal out of Credit Spread, who is a half-sister to Swale S. (G2) winner Sharp Humor.

Spinning Star was the second winner of the day for Astrology, who now has 10 for the year. The Taylor Made stallion finished 2016 as a top-10 Freshman Sire of winners.
