First-crop sire Astrology had the session-topper Tuesday at the Keeneland September Yearling sale with a $425,000 colt going to Stonestreet Stables and George Bolton.

Consigned by Mr. & Mrs. Wayne Sweezey’s Timber Town, hip No. 2625 is the first foal out of the More Than Ready mare Priceless Design. The dark bay colt’s third dam is Excellent Lady, half-sister to Grade 1 winner and champion sire Southern Halo and the dam of Grade 1 winners General Challenge and Notable Career.

"(Stonestreet advisor) John (Moynihan) thought he was one of the best physicals in the sale and he just happened to be by a stallion that we own," Bolton told the TDN. "The horse had gotten some buzz and we knew he was going to be expensive."

Through the first eight days of the auction, which runs through Sept. 26, Astrology’s average sale price is $103,091, fifth-best of sires represented by their first crop this year.
