Space Shuttle, Astrology's most expensive yearling to date, powered to an eye-catching 4 1/2-length victory Sunday in a 5 1/2-furlong maiden special weight affair for 3-year-olds at Monmouth Park.

It took Space Shuttle just a few jumps out of the gate to take the lead. The dark bay zipped through the first quarter in :22.25 seconds and began to widen his one-length lead outside the quarter pole. He came into the stretch with a full head of steam and opened up on his foes in the lane to win in hand in 1:04.22 on a fast track.

Space Shuttle was purchased for $425,000 by his owners Stonestreet Stables and George Bolton out of the 2015 Keeneland September Yearling sale. He is the second foal out of his dam Priceless Design and is from the same family of $2.8 million earner General Challenge and Grade 1 winner Notable Career.

Astrology now has 24 winners to date from his second crop this year, third-most among sophomore sires, topping such sophomore sires at Bodemeister, Dialed In and Tapizar. The Taylor Made stallion was also a top-10 sire of winners among First-Crop sires of 2016.
