Afleet Lass speed through five furlongs on the turf in :56.48 to capture Calder's Cool Air S. on June 18 and become the latest stakes winner for her sire Northern Afleet. The 18-year-old Taylor Made stallion now has seven stakes winners in 2011, led by multiple graded winner Teaks North.

Afleet Lass got an ideal trip in the Cool Air, stalking a very quick pace for the first quarter mile before taking over the top spot on the turn, opening up by three lengths in the stretch and then kept to the task to win by 1 1/4-lengths on the firm turf.

With the win, Afleet Lass is now 5-3-3 in 17 starts, all in southern Florida. She has earned $89,112 for owner/trainer Jose Pinchin. The 4-year-old bay filly was bred in Kentucky by Nita Brooks.

Taylor Made consigned and sold Afleet Lass for $30,000 at the 2008 Keeneland September yearling sale. The filly is out of Breeze Lass, who has produced nine winners, including the stakes horses Homem Ra and Exploit Lad.
