The concisely-named 2-year-old Stat looks like a colt to watch after the son of Unbridled's Song galloped to a professional-looking two length victory in his career debut July 9 at Belmont Park (VIDEO).

The Todd Pletcher trainee was bet down to 3-5 at post time. Going 5 1/2-furlongs, Stat was on the inside for the first furlong, then switched to the three path while running fourth around the turn. He was in high gear coming into the stretch and rushed to the front without urging, then was eased up at the wire to finish in 1:04.76.

The silver-gray coated juvenile is owned by Bortolazzo Stable LLC and earned $36,000 for the victory. He has been through the auction ring twice, bring $260,000 at the Keeneland September yearling sale and then $400,000 this April, also at Keeneland.

Stat is a half-brother to both Lenaro, third in the Grade 3 Debutante S. at Churchill Downs and the multiple stakes-placed filly Charlotte's Di. Their dam, Di's Time, won nearly a quarter-million dollars and took the Correction H.
